What is Biotechnology?

Biotechnology is a course that incorporates engineering sciences and natural sciences to solve problems and develop/create various products utilizing living organisms or cells, thereof and molecular analogues.

How is engineering in Biotechnology different from other graduate program of Biotechnology?

The engineering program focuses on building strong fundamental foundations of various core domains of biotech while inculcating the skills required to build, modify, and execute the required techniques in biological and biochemical processes. It also imbibes the knowledge and skill necessary to manage, store and compute biological data and apply the theoretical knowledge to scale laboratory processes to industrial requirements. This requirement needs a well-rounded approach in concurrently learning theoretical fundamentals, mathematical concepts, as well as laboratory experience that is specifically covered in the engineering curriculum.

What is the scope of engineering in Biotechnology?

We impart the necessary knowledge and skills to our biotech graduates such that they are industry ready. The wide coverage of the curriculum as well as targeted training by the department enables our graduates to either pursue their career in the sector of their choosing or plan for specialization by undertaking post-graduation in India or abroad.

Who should take admission in biotechnology?

Students who are passionate in pursuing the career in the life sciences or adjacent fields will find an engineering undergraduate degree will open a world of opportunities to them.
