BSc in Renal Dialysis Technology
Renal Dialysis Technology is a specialized field of Allied Health Sciences which deals with hemodialysis. At the current time, a lot of patients face kidney problems and require hemodialysis for their treatment. This is when dialysis technicians play an important role. There is a rising demand for professionals who can provide specialized care to patients with chronic renal diseases.
Professionals with proper training and expertise in the field can give new life and hope to the patients suffering from chronic renal diseases. Renal Dialysis is an essential and critical field in the healthcare sector.
To empower the students in the field of renal dialysis, the course content of this programme includes Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pathology. The students are also taught about the applied aspects of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pathology and pharmacology related to dialysis technology, concepts of renal disease and its management and applied dialysis technology.

As there is a steady rise in patients requiring dialysis, the demand for dialysis technicians has seen an overall growth of 21%. The healthcare team is always in need of experienced personnel who can confidently carry out the dialysis process. The technicians are employed in hospitals, clinics, and dialysis centers.
A dialysis technician manages and monitors dialysis treatments of patients. But their role is not limited to supervising the process alone. They also operate the dialysis machinery, prepare post treatment reports and evaluate the technical aspects of dialysis. Moreover, dialysis technicians extend their expertise knowledge to other healthcare professionals so that they can work as a team to ensure the well-being of the patients. Duration : 4 Years including 1 year of Internship
Eligibility : A candidate seeking admission to the Bachelor of Science Degree Courses in the Allied Health Sciences shall have studied English as one of the principal subject during the tenure of the course.
- Two year Pre-University examination or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principal subjects of study
- Pre-Degree course from a recognized University considered as equivalent by RGUHS, (Two years after ten years of schooling) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principal subjects of study.(OR)
- Any equivalent examination recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore for the above purpose with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principal subjects of study.(OR)
- The vocational higher secondary education course conducted by Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Government of Kerala with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in addition to vocational subjects conducted is considered equivalent to plus TWO examinations of Government of Karnataka Pre University Course.(OR)
- Candidates with two years diploma from a recognized Government Board in a subject for which the candidate desires to enroll, in the respective Allied Health Sciences course shall have passed plus 12 [10+2] with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as principal subjects or candidates with 3 years diploma from a recognized Government Board in a subject for which the candidate desires to enroll, in the respective Allied Health Sciences course should have studied Physics, Biology and Chemistry as principal subjects during the tenure of the course.
- Lateral entry to second year for allied health science courses for candidates who have passed diploma program from the Government Boards and recognized by RGUHS, fulfilling the conditions specified above under SI. No. 5 and these students are eligible to take admission on lateral entry system only in the same subject studied at diploma level
