BSc in Optometry
Bachelor of Science in Optometry is an undergraduate programme that deals with the study and application of vision care. During the programme, students become acquainted with examining eyes, diagnosing and treating vision problems, prescribing lenses and other vision therapies.
Optometrists are health professionals dealing with vision care. Initially, students are introduced to topics like Basic Biochemistry, Ocular Biochemistry and Nutrition, General Anatomy and Physiology, Ocular Anatomy and Physiology, Physical and Principles of Lighting, Geometric Optics. In the following years, an in-depth learning of the core field is carried out. The BSc Optometry syllabus includes Optometric Optics, Visual Optics, CEVS & Optometric instruments, Low Vision Aids & Geriatric Optometry, Contact Lens, Systemic diseases, Ocular diseases, Dispe, Occupational Optometry, Pediatric Optometry, Binocular vision & Advances in Optometry.
Upon successful completion of BSC Optometry, students can start their journey to become professionals providing quality eye-care services.

Optometry is an autonomous, primary healthcare profession which is concerned with vision care. Professionals determine the refractive error in visions and prescribe appropriate corrections. They also are involved with the diagnosis and treatment of several ocular problems.
An optometrist can either practice independently or work with an ophthalmologist in clinics and hospitals. They can also work at optical establishments. Graduates from this field can also have their independent practice by starting their own eye clinic.

Duration : 4 Years including 1 year of Internship
Eligibility : Student must have obtained 50% aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology in the higher secondary Examination that is equivalent to 10+2. Candidates who have completed their 2/3 years of diploma in optometry can take admission directly in the second year of B.Sc Optometry.
