BSc Anesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology has become a preferred choice for students with the increasing demand for healthcare professionals in modern-day operating rooms. The Program focuses on both theoretical and practical understanding of the field of Operation Theatre Technology.

This programme teaches students the skills required to work efficiently inside an Operation Theatre. The programme focuses on different aspects of Operation Theatre Management. Some of these aspects include sterilization, maintenance of surgical instruments and administration and monitoring of Anesthesia. On completion of the BSC Anesthesia & OTT Programme, students can confidently manage and monitor the different processes going on during a surgery.

In the first year of the B.Sc Anesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology Program, students are taught Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology and Microbiology. The study of the program-specific subjects starts during the second year. This includes Clinical, Applied and Advanced Anesthesia Technology, Applied Pathology, Applied Microbiology, Applied Pharmacology. Graduates of this programme become well-versed in the understanding of medications used in Anesthesia and Operation Theatre. Anesthesiologists and OTT Professionals accompany doctors, surgeons and nurses in the Operation Theatre. They play a vital role in surgeries and operations. Thus, there is a rising demand for healthcare professionals specializing in Anesthesia and OTT.

Duration : 4 Years including 1 year of Internship

Eligibility : A candidate seeking admission to the Bachelor of Science Degree Courses in the Allied Health Sciences shall have studied English as one of the principal subject during the tenure of the course.

  • Two year Pre-University examination or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principal subjects of study. (OR)
  • Candidates with two years diploma from a recognized Government Board in a subject for which the candidate desires to enroll, in the respective Allied Health Sciences course shall have passed plus 12 [10+2] with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as principal subjects or candidates with 3 years diploma from a recognized Government Board in a subject for which the candidate desires to enroll, in the respective Allied Health Sciences course should have studied Physics, Biology and Chemistry as principal subjects during the tenure of the course
  • Lateral entry to second year for allied health science courses for candidates who have passed diploma program from the Government Boards and recognized by RGUHS, fulfilling the conditions specified above under SI. No. 2 and these students are eligible to take admission on lateral entry system only in the same subject studied at diploma level from the academic year 2008-09
