GUIDELINES FOR HELATH KALASANGAMA EVENTS - 2025
1. MUSIC - SOLO SONG
All the rules mentioned here should be strictly followed by the participants, organizing committee and the judges.
Rules for Solo Singing:

2. GROUP SONG

4. GROUP DANCE

5. DEBATE
General Instructions |

Each team will consist of 2 speakers |

Topic allocation will be done on the day of the event |

Each team will get a preparation period allocated by the judge before each round |

Each team will get 2 minutes to make their statement |

Facts must be accurate, and visual materials are permissible |

No new constructive arguments may be introduced in the rebuttal period |

Each team is liable to questions from the judges based on their arguments |

No books or sheets with written content will be allowed |

Topics will be announced 2 days prior to the event |

Format and Time Limits |
- Each team will be assigned a stance: Proposition (Affirmative) or Opposition (Negative)

The debate will be structured as follows:
- Opening Speech (Proposition) – 3–5 minutes
- Opening Speech (Opposition) – 3–5 minutes
- Rebuttal Round (Each team) – 3–4 minutes
- Question and Answer Session – 2–3 minutes per team
- A warning bell will ring 30 seconds before the time limit. Speakers exceeding the time limit will face point deductions.

Rules for Conduct |
- Participants must maintain decorum and respect the opposing team
- Use of offensive language, hate speech, or disruptive behavior will lead to disqualification
- Teams must rely on factual evidence and logical reasoning. False information may lead to penalties
- Use of notes and cue cards is permitted, but excessive reading is discouraged

Disqualification and Penalties |
- Any participant who exceeds the time limit by more than 30 seconds will lose points
- Use of electronic devices (unless permitted) during the debate is not allowed
- Teams that fail to show up on time may be disqualified
- Any form of plagiarism or misinformation will lead to penalties

6. QUIZ

MAINS- RULES

Round 1 - Boomerang |
- The teams are seated as per the number allotted by the chit-picked.
- Each team receives 2 questions.
- No options are provided for the questions.
- Correct answer: +10 points.
- Incorrect answer or no answer: 0 points.
- If a team answers incorrectly or does not answer, the question is passed.
- The team which answers a passed question correctly receives +5 points Time limit: 30 sec

Round 2 - Rapid Fire |
- One Member Rule: Only one team member is allowed to face the questions and answer. Each team member can answer only once.
- Time Limit: Each team has 60 seconds to answer as many questions as possible.
- Question Delivery: The quizmaster will read questions aloud to the team whose turn it is.
- Answering: Only one participant from the team can answer each question.Teams must decide quickly who will answer each question.
- Scoring: Each correct answer earns the team 1 point. Incorrect answers do not deduct points, but the team cannot answer again
Timing:
- Question Timing: The quizmaster will keep track of time, signalling when 60 seconds are up.
- Countdown: Teams should begin answering immediately after the question is asked.
- Rapid Pace: If a team takes longer than 5 seconds to answer a question, they must move on or risk being marked incorrect.

Round 3 - Spell It Right |
- A word is given to the team to spell aloud
- 10 seconds to spell the word

Scoring:
- Scoring: Correct answers: 10 points
- Incorrect answers: 0 points
- The question can be passed for 5 points if incorrect

Round 4 - Buzzer Round |
- Buzzer System: Each team will have access to a buzzer (or a hand-raising method if buzzers are not available).
- Question Format: The quizmaster will ask a question, and teams must wait for the quizmaster to finish before buzzing in.
Buzzer Use:
- Teams must press their buzzer to indicate they want to answer.
- The first team to buzz in gets the chance to answer. Answering:
- Once a team buzzes in, they have 10 seconds to respond.
- If they answer incorrectly, the other teams can buzz in for a chance to answer.
Scoring Points System:
- Correct Answer: +10 points
- Incorrect Answer: -5 points

7. FINE ARTS EVENTS
- Painting is a duo event where one person sketches the outline of the art they intent to do and the other person paints out the sketch that the first person did.
- The participant can use any type of style. It could even be a mixture of different styles .
- Participant should not depict any obscenity, offensive, illegal, political or discriminatory form go the given theme.
