About the Program

A Short-Term Training Program on Git and GitHub provides hands-on experience with version control and collaborative development. Participants will learn essential Git commands, repository management, branching strategies, and how to collaborate using GitHub. This program is ideal for students, developers, and professionals looking to streamline their coding workflow and enhance their software development skills.

Objectives of the Program

  • To orient students towards understanding the benefits of an automated version control system.
  • To gain knowledge on how to link local Git repositories to remote Github account.
  • To explore the Github specific features.
  • Understand Version Control – Learn the fundamentals of Git and how version control helps in software development.
  • Master Git Commands – Gain hands-on experience with essential Git commands like commit, push, pull, merge, and rebase.
  • Work with GitHub – Learn how to create, manage, and collaborate on repositories using GitHub.

Expected Outcomes

Students will be able to gain

  • Understanding of Version Control Systems – Students will grasp the benefits of using an automated version control system like Git, including tracking changes, collaboration, and maintaining code history efficiently.
