GUIDELINES FOR HELATH KALASANGAMA EVENTS - 2025

1. MUSIC - SOLO SONG

All the rules mentioned here should be strictly followed by the participants, organizing committee and the judges.

Rules for Solo Singing:

Criteria for Participants
1 Individual Participation
2 Maximum duration of the performance: 4 minutes
3 Exceeding the time limit will result in negative marking
4 Instruments are allowed
5 Background music (instrumental/karaoke) is allowed, but no pre-recorded vocals
6 Submit your soundtrack prior to the assigned person
7 Back-up singers or extra musicians are NOT ALLOWED
8 Participants can choose any song from Bollywood, Classical, Semi-classical, Folk, Jazz, Pop, etc.
9 Any language is allowed but should be clear and understandable
10 Songs must not contain offensive, inappropriate, or abusive lyrics
11 Dress code should be appropriate
Code of Conduct
1 Participants must arrive before the competition starts
2 Any form of misbehavior or misconduct will lead to disqualification
3 Participants must respect fellow contestants and competition staff
Judging Criteria
Judgement will be based on Vocal quality, Pitch, Rhythm, Song selection, Expression and stage presence, Overall performance.

2. GROUP SONG

Rules for Group Singing

Criteria for Participants
1 Group Participation: Minimum 3 participants and Maximum 7 participants
2 Maximum duration of the performance: 5 minutes
3 Exceeding the time limit will result in negative marking

5 Instruments are allowed
6 Background music (instrumental/karaoke) is allowed, but no pre-recorded vocals

9 Any language is allowed but should be clear and understandable

4. GROUP DANCE

5. DEBATE

General Instructions
1 Each team will consist of 2 speakers
2 Topic allocation will be done on the day of the event
3 Each team will get a preparation period allocated by the judge before each round
4 Each team will get 2 minutes to make their statement
5 Facts must be accurate, and visual materials are permissible
6 No new constructive arguments may be introduced in the rebuttal period
7 Each team is liable to questions from the judges based on their arguments
8 No books or sheets with written content will be allowed
9 Topics will be announced 2 days prior to the event
10 Judge’s decision is final
Format and Time Limits
  • Each team will be assigned a stance: Proposition (Affirmative) or Opposition (Negative)
  • The debate will be structured as follows:
    • Opening Speech (Proposition) – 3–5 minutes
    • Opening Speech (Opposition) – 3–5 minutes
    • Rebuttal Round (Each team) – 3–4 minutes
    • Question and Answer Session – 2–3 minutes per team
  • A warning bell will ring 30 seconds before the time limit. Speakers exceeding the time limit will face point deductions.
Rules for Conduct
  • Participants must maintain decorum and respect the opposing team
  • Use of offensive language, hate speech, or disruptive behavior will lead to disqualification
  • Teams must rely on factual evidence and logical reasoning. False information may lead to penalties
  • Use of notes and cue cards is permitted, but excessive reading is discouraged
Disqualification and Penalties
  • Any participant who exceeds the time limit by more than 30 seconds will lose points
  • Use of electronic devices (unless permitted) during the debate is not allowed
  • Teams that fail to show up on time may be disqualified
  • Any form of plagiarism or misinformation will lead to penalties

6. QUIZ

Prelims Rules
1 Format: Pen and paper test.
2 Number of Questions: A total of 20 QUESTIONS.
3 Content: Questions are drawn from various disciplines.
4 Time Limit: 30 minutes.
5 Qualification: Only the top 5 teams qualify for the finals.
6 Scoring System: Correct Answer: +2 POINT, Incorrect Answer: -1POINT and Unattended Question: 0 POINT
7 In Case of a Tie: Separate questions will be asked to the tied teams to determine the qualifiers.

MAINS- RULES

Round Rules & Scoring
Round 1 - Boomerang
  • The teams are seated as per the number allotted by the chit-picked.
  • Each team receives 2 questions.
  • No options are provided for the questions.
  • Correct answer: +10 points.
  • Incorrect answer or no answer: 0 points.
  • If a team answers incorrectly or does not answer, the question is passed.
  • The team which answers a passed question correctly receives +5 points Time limit: 30 sec
Round 2 - Rapid Fire
  • One Member Rule: Only one team member is allowed to face the questions and answer. Each team member can answer only once.
  • Time Limit: Each team has 60 seconds to answer as many questions as possible.
  • Question Delivery: The quizmaster will read questions aloud to the team whose turn it is.
  • Answering: Only one participant from the team can answer each question.Teams must decide quickly who will answer each question.
  • Scoring: Each correct answer earns the team 1 point. Incorrect answers do not deduct points, but the team cannot answer again

Timing:

  • Question Timing: The quizmaster will keep track of time, signalling when 60 seconds are up.
  • Countdown: Teams should begin answering immediately after the question is asked.
  • Rapid Pace: If a team takes longer than 5 seconds to answer a question, they must move on or risk being marked incorrect.

Round 3 - Spell It Right
  • A word is given to the team to spell aloud
  • 10 seconds to spell the word
  • Scoring:
    • Scoring: Correct answers: 10 points
    • Incorrect answers: 0 points
    • The question can be passed for 5 points if incorrect
Round 4 - Buzzer Round
  • Buzzer System: Each team will have access to a buzzer (or a hand-raising method if buzzers are not available).
  • Question Format: The quizmaster will ask a question, and teams must wait for the quizmaster to finish before buzzing in.

Buzzer Use:

  • Teams must press their buzzer to indicate they want to answer.
  • The first team to buzz in gets the chance to answer. Answering:
  • Once a team buzzes in, they have 10 seconds to respond.
  • If they answer incorrectly, the other teams can buzz in for a chance to answer.

Scoring Points System:

  • Correct Answer: +10 points
  • Incorrect Answer: -5 points

7. FINE ARTS EVENTS

  • Painting is a duo event where one person sketches the outline of the art they intent to do and the other person paints out the sketch that the first person did.
  • The participant can use any type of style. It could even be a mixture of different styles .
  • Participant should not depict any obscenity, offensive, illegal, political or discriminatory form go the given theme.
Painting
1 One person should do the outline of the art and other person should do the painting
2 The roles of who is painting and who is sketching should be informed to the event coordinator before the start of the event
3 Time limit is 90 minutes (45 for sketching the outline and 45 minutes for painting)
4 Participants should bring their our materials
5 Theme will be given 1 day before the event
6 Online references can be taken but not to be done exactly
7 A3 sheets will be provided by the organizers.
8 Judges decision is final

8. SKETCHING

  • Sketching is a single participant event.
  • The participant can use any type of style. It could even be a mixture of different styles.
  • Participant should not depict any obscenity, offensive, illegal, political or discriminatory form go the given theme.

3 Participants should bring their our materials
4 Theme will be given 1 day before the event

9. Mime Competition

  • Each performance has a time limit of 5 minutes.
  • Participants exceeding the time limit will face penalties.
Theme
  • The theme for the competition is 'Celebrating Humanity'.
  • Participants must creatively incorporate the theme in their performance.
Number of Participants
  • This is a team event.
  • Each team must consist of minimum 8 and maximum 12 members.
Judging Criteria
  • Creativity and Originality (10 points): Unique and innovative interpretation of the theme.
  • Expression and Emotions (10 points): Effective use of facial expressions and body language.
  • Theme Relevance (10 points): Clear depiction and adherence to the theme.
  • Clarity of Story (10 points): Coherent storytelling that is impactful and easy to understand.
  • Overall Presentation (10 points): Coordination, costumes, props (if any), and stage presence.
Additional Rules
  • No spoken words or sound effects are allowed.
  • Minimal use of props is encouraged; props should enhance, not overshadow, the performance.
  • Teams must arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled time for smooth transitions.

Originality
  • All designs must be original and unique.
  • Innovative use of materials is encouraged.
Material & Construction
  • Outfits must be safe to wear and move in.
  • Avoid sharp objects, loose parts, or hazardous materials.
Appropriateness Designs must be decent.
Props & Wings
  • Large props (e.g., wings, staffs, armor) must be lightweight and manageable.
  • Innovative ideas are encouraged.
Time Limit
  • Each model gets 1-2 minutes on the runway.
  • Group performances must not exceed 8 minutes.
Music
  • Custom music for their walk.
  • Music must be handed over in a pen drive one day before the main event.
Walk & Presentation
  • Models should confidently showcase the outfit.
