The Master of Social Work (MSW) programme provides students with the knowledge and skills which are essential for the professional career of a social worker. The programme generally offers students a strong foundation in social work practice. Students enrolled in the programme are trained to offer and provide services to individuals, groups and communities. The programme mostly focuses on working with underserved or oppressed populations.

Students enrolled in the social work degree program will learn from the core social work knowledge base which is both holistic and multidisciplinary. Students enrolled will be provided theoretical and practical exposure in methods of social work such as social case work, social group work and community organization while also exploring the allied areas such as human behavior, social welfare policy, human rights, research methods etc. The MSW programme is also centered around field-work practices. Various observation visits are organized to NGOs, hospitals, and industries to understand and bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Social Work is a field of study that requires communication skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, adaptability, empathy and self-reflection. Program Overview

Duration : 2 Years

Eligibility : Any Bachelor’s degree with aggregate of 45% in all the subjects including languages is eligible to apply. In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/Cat-1, there shall be a relaxation of 05%. However the eligibility for admissions shall be as per the general guidelines/orders of the Bengaluru Central University /Government of Karnataka, as notified from time to time.

What is Master of Social Work?
The Master of Social Work (MSW) is a postgraduate program that prepares students with the skills and knowledge required to work professionally in the field of social work.
