Bachelor of Science

Science is a field of study that has impacted all our lives from time immemorial. It has shaped the world around us. Science has improved our standards of living, cured diseases, advanced technology, and has always fed our curiosities. Science is still being utilized to overcome the challenges we face. It is a field of study that never fails to amaze. It is a field of study for the ones who are willing to solve the challenges faced today with their scientific temper.

Bachelor of Science is a three-year undergraduate programme that provides students with a strong foundation in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and/or Computer Science. The programme focuses on both theoretical learning and laboratory work for a better understanding of scientific concepts.

Programmes Offered

PHYSICS: Physics is a branch of study that deals with the study of matter and energy. The subject matter of physics is wide encompassing. It ranges from the study of the universe to the study of subatomic particles. At Acharya, the Physics syllabus is composed of Mechanics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Statistical Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Atmospheric Physics and Nanomaterials, and more.

CHEMISTRY: Chemistry is the study of elements (atoms, molecules, etc.) and their interactions. It helps us understand what matter is composed of, how different compounds interact and how reactions take place. The Chemistry syllabus includes the study of structure of atoms, ionic and covalent compounds, alkanes, alkenes & alkynes, Spectroscopy, photochemistry, Organic Chemistry, etc.

MATHEMATICS: Mathematics is the study of numbers, structures, space and change. Based on the utilization of mathematical theories it can be classified into Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. The subject matter of Mathematics is often used to solve real-world problems in the fields of both Physics and Chemistry. The course content for BSc Mathematics includes Matrix, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Sequence and Series of Real Numbers, Fourier Series, Mathematical Methods, Complex Analysis, Numerical Analysis, etc.

COMPUTER SCIENCE: Computer Science is the study of computers and computational systems. It deals with algorithms and data structures. These form the building blocks for computer systems. The field of Computer Science has come a long way. With the latest developments in the tech industry, the demand for BSc Computer Science graduates is more than ever. The subject matter includes C programming, Database Management Systems and Software Engineering, Operating Systems and UNIX, Web Programming, Computer Networks, etc.
