Acharya & BM Reddy College of Pharmacy (ABMRCP)
Our Research
Integrated drug discovery centers focus on the in silico design, chemical synthesis, in vitro, in vivo study of small molecules for the treatment of cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. Computational simulations are done using Accelrys Drug Discovery Studio 3.5 and Autodock software, and chemical synthesis by green chemistry approach. The funded research projects explore the potential utility of these synthesized novel compounds target proteins such as EGFR, HER2, HSP90, BRAF, COX2, DDR and DDR2 receptors etc. Many novel heterocyclic compounds are developed in preclinical studies and some of them are reported in research articles while some are patented as well.
Cell biology and proteomics center provides pharmacological evidence through cell based assays, protein binding and enzyme inhibition studies. In-vivo screening center focuses on cardiovascular, neuropharmacology, metabolic disorders, inflammatory and oncology research using gold standard screening models. The funded and consultancy projects explore the potential application of bioactive, synthetic compounds and herbal extracts for its pharmacokinetic profile and pharmacodynamics properties.
Formulation and development center is involved in the development of conventional formulations, Lyophilised solid dosage forms for Immunotherapy, Acarbose Pellets for treatment of Diabetes. F&D researchers also developed nano based drug delivery system like PLGA based Gefitinib nanoparticles for Lung cancer treatment; Ethosome-Hydrogel Hybrid Technology (EHT) for topical drug delivery application; solid lipid nanoparticles for breast cancer; etc. Herbal formulations are also developed such as Herbal creams of Reishi extract; Tea tree oil for hirsutism; Polyherbal anti-acne gel; In situ gel polymer composite for local and sustained delivery of drugs.
Isolation and characterization of phytoconstituents and their evaluation are the research interests in Dept. of Pharmacognosy. Pharmaceutical drug analysts at the dept. of Pharmaceutical Analysis works on providing a QC and QA support to the drugs and formulations that are discovered across the departments of the institute. Instruments such as HPLC, FTIR, Zetasizer, Flash Chromatography, HPTLC, UV-Visible spectrophotometer, etc. are amongst the analytical instruments that are available for testing drug and formulations.
