Master of Computer Applications


    Computer applications have successfully branched out in vast emerging commercial sectors like banking and finance, manufacturing services, trade, public governance etc. They have changed the organic functions of business viz. marketing financing operations, staffing etc. Based on this reality MCA programme consists of core courses and allied courses, which provides an in-depth knowledge that enables students to translate their acquired knowledge into working knowledge. It is blazing a new trial by educating young people for a career in computers.


The MCA programme was started in the year 2002 with a sanctioned enrollment of 30 students and subsequently it was increased to 240 from the academic year 2012-13. The program is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The department focuses on contemporary and cutting-edge computer applications, providing participants with the broad range of competencies central to the successful delivery of integrated solutions, which can be found amongst the best. This commitment has made the department to have pride in having 7 university ranks. IBM software centre of excellence and student forum namely “e-disha” was established by the department and it also has a VTU recognized research centre started in the year 2012.

   The programme offers the opportunity to engage with internationally renowned and world class faculty who are dedicated to pioneering ways of understanding and dealing with new challenges. Currently, 11 faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D. under VTU, MCA-RC and various other reputed universities and most of the faculty members have carried out research work in different domains such as Data Mining, Cloud Computing, and Network Security etc.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The educational objectives of a program are the statements that describe the expected achievements of graduates within first few years of their graduation from the program. The program educational objectives of Master of Computer Application can be broadly defined on four counts.

1. A strong footing in analysis and design of algorithms and build software coding to that effect.

2. Programming skills in various computer languages.

3. An understanding to exploit the capabilities of computer hardware, Network and communication systems.

4. Capable of studying the a given problem and produce a software solution for proficiency.

5. Competencies of a manager to lead and guide team and enterprises and manage people effectively to achieve organizational success.

Program Outcomes (POs)

Program outcomes are narrower statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the skills, knowledge and behavior. Graduation students of Master of Computer Application program at Acharya Institute of Technology will attain the following program outcomes,
