Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is a relatively new discipline that deals with the development and application of computational models and simulations, often coupled with high-performance computing, to solve complex physical problems arising in engineering analysis and design (computational engineering) as well as natural phenomena (computational science).

CSE has been described as the "third mode of discovery" (next to theory and experimentation). In many fields, computer simulation is integral and therefore essential to business and research. Computer simulation provides the capability to enter fields that are either inaccessible to traditional experimentation or where carrying out traditional empirical inquiries are prohibitively expensive. The department was established in the year 1996 under Bangalore University. In these 15 years of academic services, the department has shown phenomenal growth, and at present the department hosts undergraduate and post graduate programmes, under the affiliation of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The computing facility of the Department consists of a state-of-the-art network of computers with 5 separate labs running with Linux Server & Windows servers. The various labs are Project Lab, Graphics Lab, Hardware Lab, Programming Lab, and the System Software Lab. The Computer Maintenance Cell (CMC) which is the part of the department has responsibilities of managing Campus-Wide IT infrastructure, including Computers, Networking (Wired / Wireless), and Internet facilities, Mail, Web and Application Servers and so on. CSE consists of a team of highly motivated and experienced faculties who have a proven track record in the IT industry and academia and have specialized in some of the latest areas of in Computer Science and Engineering, which includes, Computer Networks, Wireless Network Security, Cryptography, Wireless Sensor Networks, Cloud Computing, and so on. In addition to that, the faculty is also actively involved in some of the joint research projects with industries.

Faculty members are engaged in breakthrough research across the leading areas of computer science and engineering. Our faculty’s diverse research interests allow students to customize their experience and find solutions to real-world problems. Students and faculty members work together in symbiotic relationships, and faculty members pay special attention to students to ensure success in the program. The CSE department has a multidisciplinary paradigm that allows students and faculty to collaborate with other departments, guaranteeing interests are met. Career in IT is considered one of the most high-paying jobs and is full of opportunities. The pool of talented computer engineers working in companies show that IT can take a person to higher levels. The students of CSE have performed excellently well in campus placements of reputed IT industries which include TCS, WIPRO, INFOSYS to name a few. Post-graduation students have acquired their internships and projects in companies such as ROBERT-BOSH, LUCENT, UNISYS, GLOBAL EDGE, TCS, and so on. The department is actively involved in hosting many additional training programs for students in niche areas such as MOBILE PROGRAMMING, QUALNET, IBM TECHNOLOGOIES, LOTUS DOMINO, and so on.

We educate tomorrow’s innovators, conduct cutting-edge research in most of the principal areas of the field, and lead a broad range of multi-disciplinary initiatives that demonstrate the transformative power of computer science and computer engineering. Under Graduate

B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering
Duration: 4 Years

Eligibility : Pass in 10+2 / Higher Secondary (HS) / Pre University (PUC) / 'A' Level (with 12 years of schooling) or its equivalent with English as one of the languages. Shall have secured a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the following : Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Science. AIT admits students as per prevailing rules and regulations of VTU.

Post Graduate

M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering
Duration: 2 Years
Eligibility: BE / Equivalent Degree

Career Scope M.Tech graduates in Computer Science are considered experts in a number of computer application fields and are eagerly recruited by both software and hardware industries. Plus, they are also sought after as Systems Administrators in a number of modern corporates which have extensively implemented computerised processes in their operations.

This group is involved in Identifying, Analyzing and improving existing 4G wireless network security standards. Coverage issues, life time optimization of WSNs, developing Energy efficient routing protocols and cross layer protocols in WSNs.
Data mining methods for large scale data- Mining of Temporal Association Rules, text Mining, stream Mining.
This group is involved in Testing diverse application in cloud environment, Management of resources in large scale cloud computing to provide QoS to the end users and Estimating the cost for any industry applications.
