Master of Arts - Journalism & Mass Communication


The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism was founded in the year 2005 with and maximum intake of 20 for MS program affiliated to Bangalore University. Since then, the department has been producing Post Graduates with a great deal of exposure to industries and industrial professionals with a bid to pass on professional skills. Besides the department is also enriching the students by the way of organizing class seminars, quiz and technical competition, like photography, short documentaries and reporting. Till now the department organized two National Seminars and Media Fest which brought eminent broadcasters, academicians and the students together for an interface.

Guest Lectures have been a regular feature in the department. Eminent editors and senior Journalist and eminent broadcasters have addressed the student embellishing their knowledge. A week long TV Workshop and the workshop on film appreciation are a few examples. The Department has been perpetually striving to bring about excellence in teaching and Academic levels. The exemplification being, the University Ranks that came in 2013 and 2014. The second rank was bagged by the departmental students in both the years.



Post Graduate

Master of Arts - Journalism & Mass Communication

Duration  : 2 Years

Eligibility :Any graduate with a minimum of 50% marks in any discipline.

Career Scope

There will be numerous companies from a variety of fields that requires students from English literature. Candidates can get jobs as proofreaders, Copy Editors, Copy writers and writer in the marketing department (e.g. writing pamphlets or brochures for social service firms like PETA) etc. Students can also opt for Post Graduation in English Literature, Linguistics, Cultural Studies, Comparative Literatures, Women Studies, Translation Studies, etc.,. Candidates with English Literature background can get jobs abroad too.
