There has been a tremendous advancement of technology in the cyber physical canvasand one of the burgeoning and the most talked about topics is Internet of Things (IoT). Today IoT is changing the rule of the business and its future. Its ubiquitous presence hasalreadybeen felt in all the sectors. One of the traditionally stabilized sectors is Aerospaceand Defense where there is a gigantic potential for IoT to be used. It would mesmerize the sector in its value addition on production line, supply chain, material handling, component designand manufacturing, flight operation and management and many more. The IoT cancompletely disrupt the future of the aerospace and defence industry. It is, therefore, necessary to evangelize the future generation and enlighten the aerospace community toharness it for a greener world of tomorrow. Today an average data volume generated foran aircraft fitted with single engine during a 12-hour flight is 844 TB. The mining of thisvolume of data would startle and enable the decision maker for the future planes andengines in designing quiet, safer and high performing aircraft for civil and defence applications.
The main output of the Symposium will be a technical document that synthesizes the information and debate in each of the Symposium’s sessions. It will include quantitative information on the status of application of IoT and its impact on Aerospace and Defense(A&D) sectors globally and regionally in the best interest of management and partnership practices, and recommendations on how to better connect evidence and policy to implement the IoT in education in Aerospace and Defence in the 21st century.
This technical document will form the basis of a high-level policy statement on the role, value and sustainability status of global and regional sectors in A&D .This document shall be shared with all the stakeholders of the symposium.
